A good choice in Burgos
I stayed one night at Hotel Via Gotica in March 2013. I arrived with the night train from Lisboa, and therefore checked in at around 07 in the morning. Due to an early departure the next morning, I asked if it was possible to have my complimentary breakfast one day earlier. I was told that the buffet breakfast was not open, but that I could choose whatever I wanted from the cafetería that the hotel has in the same building. A perfect solution for me, and a good breakfast. By the time I finished eating, a room had been made available.
My room was on the second floor, with great views of the cathedral. Unfortunately, the room smelled of cigarette smoke – either the guests that were here before me smoked in the room, or it came from the ventilation system (I think the latter). The room reeked, and I did not want to open the windows too much either, since it was only 4 degrees outside. Knowing that there were no other available rooms, I did not complain. Apart from this, the room was clean, nicely decorated (with a great “lake” wallpaper over the bed) and stylish.
The hotel is located only five minutes’ walk from the cathedral, and less than three minutes’ walk from the bus station.
The hotel offers a great location and modern rooms to a fair price, and I would definitely stay here again.
