Stay: July 7–9, 2025 | Family of 6, 2 Rooms (1st and 2nd Floor)
Our family of six stayed at the Essex House Hotel in Miami for two nights, and while the location and staff were highlights, several issues impacted our experience.
Pros:
The staff was friendly and accommodating, making early check-in possible (though one room incurred a $50 fee). The hotel’s location in South Beach is fantastic—just a two-minute walk to the beach, restaurants, and the Art Deco Museum, making it ideal for exploring. The rooms were clean, with comfortable beds and minimal but functional furniture. Free Wi-Fi, bottled water, and other resort amenities were nice, though a daily resort fee applied.
Cons:
Despite the prime location, the neighborhood was extremely noisy until 1 a.m., even on weekdays, forcing us to run the loud air conditioning to drown it out. While the bedrooms felt recently renovated, the hallways were neglected, with worn carpets and visible stains. The AC units in both rooms were annoyingly loud, disrupting sleep. Most concerning, the bathrooms had no ventilation, and the water was a major issue—only one faucet worked, and it delivered only scalding hot water.
Overall:
The Essex House Hotel has a great location and friendly service, but the noisy surroundings, outdated hallways, and serious bathroom issues were disappointing.
It’s a decent option for those prioritizing location, but families seeking reliable amenities may want to consider alternatives
