My husband and I had always dreamed of staying at this hotel, since both of our parents had stayed here years ago. We remembered the matchbooks with "Golden Nugget" on the front that they would bring home, and wanted to experience the nostalgia of old Vegas and explore Fremont Street for the first time. The shark tank pool and stunning aquarium at the Chart House sealed the deal for us.
Unfortunately, our stay started off rough. The first room had a water leak which we didn’t notice until late at night when our socks became soaked from the carpet. We were moved to a second room, which unfortunately was even worse. We found fresh blood on the sheets and drops on the floor leading to the bathroom. It seemed like it could have been a housekeeping accident, but it was still unsettling. We were moved again, given a room upgrade, and our resort fees were refunded.
Then came the disappointment of the pool being drained due to broken glass. It remained closed for two days and reopened just in time for our last day. I finally got to enjoy the shark tank pool, although the water was freezing. Still, the pool area and our dinner at the Chart House were definite highlights.
Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful, except the final front desk clerk, who ended our stay on a sour note with her bad attitude. Sadly, that’s the last impression we were left with. Next time, we’ll be staying at Circa.
