Madrid attract all sorts of travellers with its vibrant tapas bars, outstanding art museums, and historic squares. Plaza Mayor, Madrid’s most impressive square, is surrounded by 15th-century designs, such as Palacio Real, Plaza de Oriente, and Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales.

Many also consider Madrid as the art capital of Spain, thanks to the city’s trio of art museums near El Retiro Park. Museo del Prado, Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza display hundreds of masterpieces, from Old Masters to contemporary American art. With plenty of things to do, it’s no wonder Madrid is one of Spain’s must-visit destinations.
