Cotswolds

What you need to know before you go

The Cotswolds is home to some of England’s most scenic landscapes with quaint villages, rolling green hills, and winding country lanes. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty spans 800 square miles across 5 counties in south-central and southwest England. Those living in busy cities like Birmingham and London often embark on epic road trips across this massive region. Along the way, there are many historic market towns with pastel-coloured cottages, medieval churches, and quaint shops lining cobblestoned pathways. The atmosphere is generally very laidback and relaxed, so you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported back to simpler times.

One of the Cotswolds' most popular counties is Oxfordshire, located almost 60 miles northwest of London. Some of the UK’s most elegant manors and notable UNESCO World Heritage sites are found in this county, including Blenheim Palace, Chastleton House, and The Abbey. Challenge your fitness level by hiking the 102-mile Cotswold Way or spot native wildlife at the Cotswold Commons and Beechwoods National Nature Reserve.
