Llandudno is a wonderful destination for families travelling with children. Playing on the beach is the main draw, but there are plenty more activities to choose from. Younger visitors to Llandudno can spend their days splashing around in the water, building sandcastles, and riding donkeys along the North Shore beach. Afterward they can head for Llandudno pier – the longest in Wales – and laugh along with a raucous Punch & Judy show while munching on traditional rock candy.
For a casual family meal by the seaside, you can get takeouts from one of Llandudno's many fish and chips shops and enjoy it while strolling along the promenade. More formal options abound, and families will find plenty of welcoming restaurants around town that offer children's menus and the opportunity for younger visitors to get a taste of the local Welsh cuisine. Other family-friendly activities include riding a cable car to the summit of Great Orme, skiing on dry slopes, and strolling along Alice in Wonderland Trail. Follow us through a selection of Llandudno’s great attractions for kids.

The whole family will have fun exploring Llandudno's connection to Alice in Wonderland through a dedicated trail. Alice Liddell, the girl who inspired Lewis Carroll's book, spent her summer holidays in Llandudno.
Today, children can discover the town's connections to Alice in Wonderland by following the Alice in Wonderland Trail. It’s clearly marked by 55 bronze rabbit footprints and takes in related sculptures along the way, including a Mad Hatter statue on the promenade and the White Rabbit in North Western Gardens. You can follow it with a paper map – available at Llyfrgell Llandudno Library – or download apps about the characters and background of this much-loved children's classic.
