Minnesota

What you need to know before you go

Minnesota boasts over 10,000 inland lakes surrounded by untamed wilderness. The state borders the southwestern shore of Lake Superior – the largest of the 5 Great Lakes – where you can enjoy a dramatic scenery of rugged cliffs, waterfalls, and pine forests. The Superior National Forest and Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness offer ample opportunities for camping, hiking, swimming, and canoeing.

You can head up to northern Minnesota for a scenic, 148-mile drive along Highway 61. The state is beautiful no matter what time of year you visit, but tit's especially scenic in autumn – you can feel the cool breeze while being surrounded by fall foliage. Immerse yourself in nature at notable protected areas like the Voyageurs National Park and Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. Located along the Mississippi River, Minnesota’s Twin Cities (Saint Paul and Minneapolis) has all the modern conveniences you’d need, from hotels and restaurants to art galleries and avant-garde theatres.
