Fort Walton Beach is a city on Florida’s Panhandle famed for its endless white-sand beaches, an offshore island with tons of native wildlife and vast historic sites. Just offshore, Okaloosa Island offers a Marine Adventure Park that hosts penguins, alligators and dolphins. It also has soft white sand beaches with vast clear waters. At the Indian Temple Mound Museum, you will see a prehistoric mound and museum filled with artefacts from indigenous cultures. To the city’s north-east, the Air Force Armament Museum showcases artefacts, ephemera, displays and actual historic aircraft from World War I through to the present.

At Wild Willy’s Adventure Zone, entire families can enjoy thrill rides, games and entertainment themed around dinosaurs. The Emerald Coast Science Center offers kids the chance to get hands-on with science and technology. The Camp Walton Schoolhouse showcases education from the early 20th century in a historic building. For a bit of local colour, the Downtown FWB Farmers Market offers fresh produce, prepared foods and local arts and crafts.
